En 2002 plantamos los treinta y tres bancales de esta parcela con Tintilla.
Las laderas de este valle se han ido erosionado con el paso del tiempo a partir del Macizo de Teno, el primero que emergió del Océano hace once millones de años.
A más 700 metros de altura, la influencia de los Alisios hace que la diferencia de temperatura entre la noche y el día sea drástica, lo que resulta perfecto para una uva como la Tintilla.
En los últimos años hemos plantado Vijariego Negro y Bastardo.

It’s crucial, to us, that this works as a continuous process, and so we apply our philosophy to the winery with as much vigour as we do in the vineyards.

We want you to taste Tenerife, and not any artifice of winemaking. By combining Tenerife’s natural resources with our own diligence and skill, we’re able to produce modern wines that are deeply rooted in our traditions and signature style.
INTEGRATED ARCHITECTURE
Utilising the natural rocks that make our vineyards so unique to build its foundations, and harnessing the natural ventilation of the northerly winds and gravity, we allow the grapes to pass through the winery as naturally as possible.

From childhood Juan Jesús Méndez has walked these vineyards; his labour as much a part of their story as the stones underfoot. Since 1990, he has been the driving force and embodiment of Viñátigo, from its origins in his grandparents vineyards to everything we see before us today.
Our team at Viñátigo have one thing in common: a commitment to showcasing the true essence of the Canary Islands. From recovering indigenous grapes on the verge of extinction and carefully mapping our soil types, to ensuring integrity in the winemaking process – our aim is the same.
We’re incredibly proud to deliver the authentic character of the Canary Islands through our wines; a direct translation of our vineyards, straight into your glass.

See our experimental plantings and the work we’re doing to cultivate indigenous, rare grape varieties. Step inside our stone winery and feel the heat dissipate as you descend the spiral staircase to its lower, cooler levels. Taste our wines in situ and experience a profound sense of their connection to our Tenerife terroir.
We conduct these visits in small groups of 10 people or less, at 11am on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. To visit our winery and vineyards it is necessary to book in advance by sending us an email to vinatigo@vinatigo.com
